Get In His Presence
Mark 1:35
35 Now in the morning, having risen a long while before daylight, He went out and departed to a solitary place; and there He prayed.
We’ve all felt it. We got lonely, depressed, and even in some cases suicidal. Things were cruising along, life was great, but all the sudden we hit a spiritual wall. Life became monotonous, we felt like we were in a rut going nowhere. Have you been there? Well I have. What is one to do?
This is the time you need to get into God’s presence. You have to pick yourself up and encourage yourself. You have to decide you will not be down. Jesus knew the importance of being in God’s presence. He knew that it was essential as a human living on the earth, we must connect with our heavenly Father otherwise we are like a ship without power being blown around in the middle of the ocean with no direction, no sense of progress, and no sense of what is coming up next.
How do you get into God’s presence? I go to a private place where I will not be disturbed, or that people will know that I am having a meeting with my Maker. I like to turn on worship music that starts with praise songs (faster rejoicing songs) and moves into worship songs. Worship songs tell God of His worth, just fellowshipping with Him. I use the PSALM model. I get into God’s presence by using this simple model to enter into His presence.
Praise- Thank you Father for today. Thank you for my health. Thank you for my family. Thank you for the answers to prayers that I have already prayed. God you are so good!
Surrender- Father, I surrender all my fears, my shortcomings, my insecurity, my loneliness, Father I just give it all to you.
Ask- Father, I thank you for answering my prayers. Today I would like to additionally lift up this unsaved person I met today. Father I ask you for a better situation at my company.
Listen- This is when I just take time and let my Spirit just listen to His Spirit; His thoughts, His directions, His wisdom.
Meditate- I spend the last bit of my time with Him, meditating, or thinking about, His words He spoke to me. Thinking about how I want to plan my day with His direction. I think on what His has spoken to me and when, where and how He wants me to apply it to my life.
The more you get into His presence, the more you will be in tune with the Father. You will be just like Daniel (Daniel 6:10), who although the leaders of the nation conspired again him, he refused to allow them to take away His time in God’s presence. He made an effort to get into God’s presence even with the threat of death. God blessed him for it, and he prospered in every situation because he was faithful.
God has an awesome plan for you. When you feel down, get into God’s presence and He will pick you right up.
