The Real Mission Impossible

Ps 24:1-6

The earth is the Lord’s, and all its fullness,
The world and those who dwell therein.
2 For He has founded it upon the seas,
And established it upon the waters.

3 Who may ascend into the hill of the Lord?
Or who may stand in His holy place?
4 He who has clean hands and a pure heart,
Who has not lifted up his soul to an idol,
Nor sworn deceitfully.
5 He shall receive blessing from the Lord,
And righteousness from the God of his salvation.
6 This is Jacob, the generation of those who seek Him,
Who seek Your face.
NKJV

God created mankind (you and I) for a purpose.  He created us because he wanted to create love.  Love is not a physical thing like sex, it is not just being with someone, or doing what someone says.  Love is a free-will choice, that no matter what, you want to have a relationship with someone.  This is why God created us with a free will.  We can choose whether or not we want to have a relatioship with the Almighty Yahweh.  If we put that relationship above everything else, all the other items will come in line.  Just like Daniel, Joseph, Rahab, and the other great men and women of the Bible.

However, there is a problem.  We, mankind, are very far from perfect.  There is no way, no right for us to enter into relationship with God.  He is so much greater than us.

A rich young man came us to Jesus one day.  He asked the Messiah, what must I do to be saved (to enter into that relationship with God).  The Messiah knew his heart.  He asked, have you kept this rule, that rule, and that rule from the scriptures.  The young leader responded, “Yes, I have done this from when I was young”.  Jesus knew that this guy had a religious works-minded mindset, and was not love-guided.  He knew the guy did not really love God.  So he said, next you have to give away all the things you’ve got to those in need.  The guy went away sad, because his things were more important to him than his relationship with God.

The Messiah’s friends were there and watched this event as recorded in Matthew chapter 19.  From their perspective, they were surprised.

Matt 19:25
When the disciples heard this, they were utterly puzzled (astonished, bewildered), saying, Who then can be saved [from eternal death]? AMP

They thought if this guy who ‘seemed’ to have it all together spiritually couldn’t be saved and enter a relationsihip with God, who could?  How did the Messiah respond?

Matt 19:26
But Jesus looked at them and said to them, “With men this is impossible, but with God all things are possible.”
NKJV

God is so awesome, so perfect, so beautiful, that there is no way we can stand in His presence.  There is no way that imperfect beings like us can enter into relationship with the Creator of the universe, the King of Kings, the Almighty Father.  Absolutely, no way on our own that we can enter into His presence.

God, Yahweh, the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob made the impossible possible.  He changed despair and hopelessness into hope.  As humans we are so imperfect, we are so limited.  But God has called us to the true Mission Impossible team.  To go places that people said we couldn’t go to share the Gospel, to pray for the sick that people said would die of their disease, to pray for the infilling of the Holy Spirit for people who were so ‘scattered’ that the world said they would never make it.

Will you take that mission assignment from Yahweh?  Will you choose to seek Him with all your soul?  The Almighty God is calling you.  Don’t miss the opportunity.

Get in church every Sunday, don’t miss a chance to worship him and invite others, share the love of God with others, pray for the sick, believe God for the best jobs, best families, best houses.  Everything you do, say, and represent is a reflection of God’s love to this world.
